Glory Series Part 2

Hello Folks,

This will be a new 10 part series on glory and what God has to say about it and what it "does". Many people want to be like Christ, but what they don't know, is that the bible says that it is his glory that changes us into Christ. Really? Yep.. It takes Christ and His essence to turn us into Christ. From that perspective what this series has to say will make a lot of sense. Christ himself changing us into Christ-likeness by his own glory. He does it by his glorious presence!
Last time we looked at:
Habakkuk 2:14
and
John 17:20-23

This time we will look at John Chapter 5.  In this chapter Jesus heals a lame man by the pool of Bethesda and here's what happened:

John Chapter 5 NIV

Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. [4] [b] 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him,“Do you want to get well?”
God asks him if he wants to get well!  That would indicate that sometimes we wallow in our problems and our sin.  Our lives have not been aligned with God's purposes and we are paying the consequences with sadness, depression, and sickness.  God asks you today, do you want to get well?

Lets continue:

Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”
8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, 10 and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”
11 But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ”
12 So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”
13 The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.

When the man is talking about the water being "stirred" it is because an angel would come and touch the water.  Whoever would get in, would receive their healing.  He was explaining to Jesus that he had no one to help him in.  Jesus breaks the tradition at the pool, circumvents the process established, and skips right to the good stuff.  "Pick up your mat and walk".  Often times Jesus has a path that gets right to the point and removes the things in our lives that need healing.  We need to say 2 things.  1. Yes I want to be healed. and 2. Obey when He gives you a command.

Now this angered the religious leaders as it broke their interpretation of the Law.  They had decided what it meant and it meant nobody getting healed on the Sabbath.  They actually would kill you for doing good on the Sabbath, which means rest.  They weren't so interested in the good work, but in the system that they run being threatened.  God always breaks down the religious system that stands in His way.

Jesus asked the man to stop sinning.  If you have sin in your life such as anger, bitterness, rage, adultery, drunkenness (that includes under-aged drinking), worry, anxiety, and the like.  God is asking you to give these things to him, repent (which is a church word to stop and turn from what you are doing) OR Jesus says something worse may happen to you.  When you live in a habitual practice of sin, sin has you and sin is death to your health, life, emotions, and relationships.

God has brought Shalom in Jesus.  Shalom means peace on every side (physical, spiritual, emotional, financial, relationships)  It means everything in order.

Later in the chapter 5 of John Jesus has to confront the religious leaders about their hardened hearts and how they don't believe him.  He tells them the following:

36 “I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study[c] the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
41 “I do not accept glory from human beings, 42 but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. 44 How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God[d]?

Jesus says that the "works" i.e. miracles/signs/wonders he was doing testify that He is from God and is sent by the Father. Jesus always performed signs/wonders with His preaching. We do the same.
He also pointed out that the religious leaders studied the bible, but they didn't know of whom the bible pointed to. The bible points to having a real, tangible relationship with Jesus, and that is what is available for you today. Searching the bible for other reasons can be helpful, but they should point us to a life-giving, heart felt, spirit-led relationship with the very image of the Father: Jesus.
Finally, he points that although some want to be commended by others and accepted by others, that we should seek the glory that comes from the only God?

What is this glory? How are we to seek it? Find out next time. Until then, Shalom!Take care and God bless,

Glory Series Part 1

Hello Folks,

This will be a new 10 part series on glory and what God has to say about it and what it "does". Many people want to be like Christ, but what they don't know, is that the bible says that it is his glory that changes us into Christ. Really? Yep.. It takes Christ and His essence to turn us into Christ. From that perspective what this series has to say will make a lot of sense. Christ himself changing us into Christ-likeness by his own glory. He does it by his glorious presence! Now, if you have "worm" theology, then you will most likely have problems with all the scripture and discussions that will be part of this. What is "worm" theology? After receiving Christ, you still believe that you are a dirty sinner. Are you a sinner that has been saved by grace, or a child of the King? Big difference and big understanding difference. When you receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit, you become a child of God. Child of God identity versus sinner but still saved by grace. Is He your Father? Have you become one with Jesus and the Father through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Does He see any spot or wrinkle through the blood of Jesus? Are you forgiven and justified, or still working on it by your own merit of continually saying sorry? The answer is we do both. We are forgiven and justified and the following action is sanctification, the continual process of working out the flesh out of minds so that we may have the Mind of Christ. But first lets start with one thought

Habakkuk 2:14

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.

It seems that the bible is saying we should know something about it! To have the amount of knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea is a lot of knowledge! We would know it inside and out and it would permeate us to the fullest degree. It would cover every depth and crevice of our being, fully understood inside and out. Many people think about glory as worship, as in I give you glory, etc. Or glorifying the Father as Jesus said many times in the New Testament. This is the sticking point, looking at it from that angle only leaves room for God to receive glory, which you may be thinking is the only option. Thankfully glory is much more than our praises otherwise it would sound like we wanted God's glory (read worship) for ourselves. However, the texts use glory in many more ways than our praise and honor to the Father. That is one way glory is manifested. However, if Jesus says in John 17:5, 20-23 that He gave US the glory He had before the beginning of the world, that would expound upon what glory is.

Verse 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one,Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Next week, I will expound upon this notion that God wants us to be like him by his glory, so that we may be one and with complete unity, just like Jesus said above.

Healing Story #10 - Metal Dissolves Out of His Ankle at Gold's Gym

I was going to Gold's Gym in my city in Richland WA and I was working out and I saw that a man I knew was working out.  His name is Frank and he had a walking boot on because of his ankle and how bad it hurt him.  From the last time I saw him, he told me that it was from a work accident where several pallets had fell on his ankle and severely hurt him.  He had to get surgery and pins, metal rods, and screws were surgically implanted into his ankle to allow it to function.  I had met him 10 weeks prior when I decided to start praying for the sick.  I had seen that he was working out while being injured and I decided that I would just pray for him to see what God would do.  I was really nervous about praying for strangers but I thought that I would just start doing it and see what he thought about it.

So I saw Frank standing there by the chairs and I thought I would go re-introduce myself and say hi to him.  We spoke for awhile and I asked if I could pray for him in general and to see what the Lord had for him.  He allowed me to pray and the Lord started sharing with me some of the details of his life and what he had gone through.  They were very specific and detailed and he agreed that those things were true.  The Lord revealed to me that he also had back issues and that he had issues and pain there as well.  I prayed for healing and heat for his back and he tensed up as he felt the power of the Lord begin to touch his back. I prayed for his back for awhile and then I prayed for his ankle to receive power and healing.  I asked him what was going on and he said he was feeling something "weird".  I helped him to understand that was the power of God to begin to set him free from physical things.  I asked how his ankle was doing and he said that he had lack of mobility.  I then commanded in the name of Jesus for the metal rods and screws to dissolve and to leave his body.  IMMEDIATELY he was able to fully extend his foot and to work his ankle in many new directions and the mobility was restored.  Frank said that he wasn't able to do that for many years since the rods and screws were inserted.  He was totally healed in his back and ankle!!

Frank then invited me to pray for his wife who has multiple sclerosis in her body.  She had begin to lose feeling and the ability to walk normally.  She had been journaling for some time and wrote down the date and time when the feeling left her legs and had begun to deteriorate.  I explained to her that God will touch her body and begin to bring back mobility and pain.  I started praying and commanding the numbness to leave in the name of Jesus.  As I began to pray the pain began to subside and the feeling began to come back and work up one leg and begin to work down the other leg.  By the time we were finished, the feeling was completely back in her legs and was able to walk much better.  God totally blew her mind of what  was possible and she was in shock and super joyful that God returned the feeling in her legs.

Healing Story #9 - Mother-In-Law Gets Healed

We were praying for many people to be healed and my mother-in-law had some pain in her body and it was becoming quite severe.  She was going to the hospital  because the regular doctor would not see her due to the severity of the pain and the difficulty she was experiencing.  She decided to stop by the house before she went to the house to receive some prayer and to get touched by God as she believes in the healing power of God.  My mother-in-law came up to the house limping in pain and in severe agony.  She came inside and we only had a couple minutes before she had to go to the hospital.  My wife and I started to pray for her and I felt that the Holy Spirit was showing me that there was a spirit of infirmity as was spoken in Luke 13.  In that scripture a woman, a daughter of Abraham, was bent over by a spirit of infirmity over her life and body.  I felt that the Holy Spirit was showing me that she needed to be delivered from that spirit and to command that spirit to leave just as Jesus had done for that woman.  After we prayed for that spirit to leave and come off of her, the pain dropped from a 9 out of 10 pain level to a 5 out of 10 pain level.  We continued to pray and it dropped from a 5/10 to a 2/10.  The pain was almost gone!  We prayed again and it dropped to a 1 out of 10.  We continued to pray and the pain was completely gone by the end of the day.  She was really blessed and was crying and lifting up the goodness of God for what He had done for her.  She left praising God and totally blessed in her body.

Luke 13:10-17
"10 On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11 and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leadersaid to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”15 The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” 17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing."

Everything you read in the scriptures is true and they are for you as well.  Jesus said to his disciples to go make disciples of all nations and teach them everything he commanded them.  And guess what?  The disciples through the bible have taught us to do everything they did as well.  Amen!!  Go heal the sick!

Healing Story #8: Unsaved man at Costco gets healed

I went to Costco ( my favorite place) to get some food for our "new diet" (I've had many new diets!) and to get a pizza before we started it.  LOL.  I was looking for someone to pray for, as I had made up my mind before I entered to the store to be sensitive to who God wanted to bless.  As I walked past a woman folding clothes at the front, I felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to pray for her about her back.  I felt awkward and didn't want to do it, so I moved on and headed towards the back to get some meat and veggies.  I met a worker there named Dustin and he said he played basketball at the local community college.  I asked him after some time if he had any pain in his body that is bothering him.  He said that he had to ice his hip a lot after practice and doing the regular drills.  I asked if I could pray for him and he said that it was fine.  NOTE:  Most unsaved people will let you pray for them because they have no idea what is going to happen.  Most think that I will mumble some words and then all will be over.  God has other plans when we as Christians pray in the authority that he gave us.

I told him that while I pray for his healing that he might feel heat or power on his hip.  I started to pray for him and commanded that the pain leave his body in the name of Jesus.  He said that he started to feel energy (as he put it) on his leg and hip. I said "Great!  that is the Holy Spirit touching your body to make you well."  I explained to him that Jesus died and rose again to pay for his sins and to make him a child of God.  I asked him if he was ready to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and to be washed of his sins.  He said that he was not ready yet and needed more time.  He said he was almost ready but not quite yet.  I was happy but I still wanted him to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior.  I got his information to contact him later and to talk with him more.

As I was getting ready to leave the store, I saw that woman again.  I had been blessed and was more Godfidant (confident in God) than I was when I entered.  NOTE:  Praying for the sick kills off your "flesh" and makes you rely totally on God.  God is multi-dimensional as he works for the person and works to get you closer to him all at the same time.  I find that praying for healing makes the person praying stronger in faith and less susceptible to the carnal mind.
I said "Hi" to the woman and asked her name.  She said her name was Denice.  She did not look very approachable and I was moving from the momentum that just happened with Dustin back in the meat department.  I asked her if she had any back pain and she said she was all "good" and completely healthy.  I asked her again, still bold from my last experience, and said, "You mean to tell me that your back never hurts and that you absolutely don't need any healing prayer at all, ever?"  She answered, "Ok I do have back pain sometimes."  I asked to pray for her and she let me pray.  As i was praying for healing for her back, the Holy Spirit rested on her and softened her features as His peace rested on her and blessed her.  I said "God bless you" and went on my way to pay for the food.

Blessings to you!  I hope this strengthens your faith and that you see that God wants to touch people, even people who aren't quite ready for Him.
